Dewata Island, Bali

This is my 7 days trip with my friends at collage (Siti and Hajar) in Bali. I will explain about all the cost, the places, interest and my kind friends who had share their joy when we were in Bali.
First day – October 23rd 2010

We were arrived in Ngurah Ray Airport at 23.00 o’clock and we were picked up by Charlie, our collage friend. At that night, we ate nasi jingo with only Rp 3000,- each pack. Nasi Jinggo is a traditional meal from Bali, it is like Nasi Kucing (from Yogyakarta) It is contain rice with the side dish : noodle, serundeng,  chicken with small portion. We spent our first night at Arya’s room rent in Denpasar.

“Charlie”
Charlie is our class mate when in collage. He is from Bali and work at Denpasar. This is our first meet since we graduated. We were really helpful by him. Thanks a lot to Charlie, who always be with us every night in Bali.

“Arya”
Arya is our house rent mate when we were still collage in Bandung. She is also from Bali and work at Ubud. Our first and second night was in her room rent. She had a lot of work and have to move to the new company, so we decided to move to Hotel for her comfort.

Second day – October 24th 2010
We went to Ubud and have a lunch at Nasi Ayam Kedewalan.

Nasi Campur

After that we went to Pasar ubud. It is a traditional market but the price is so high. The seller will give you a high price and if we were a local tourist then they will make the price lower. Then we continue to the Monkey forest. The monkey is naughty. It almost steal my pack. My friend said that Ubud is the location for the rich tourist. Rich tourist need quite location, and Ubud has it. That’s why the price in Ubud is very high. Ubud is also famous for its art. Arya said that Bali’s art is born in Ubud. Today, we really thank full to our friend Tude, who had company us to Ubud by his car.

Have you ever read the book "Eat Pray Love" or watch the movie? If yes, so you must knew about Ketut Liyer, the famous grandpa who had correct saw the future for Elizabeth, Gilbert the writer of  Eat Pray Love. Our advantage was we have Balinese friend (Tude) who knew well about Ubud, so we can visited Ketut Liyer's house at Ubud easier than I thought before. There were around 10 people (domestic and international tourists, woman and man) who were waiting to meet Ketut Liyer. A man came and told us that if we want to meet Ketut Liyer, we must come back again tomorrow, because for today it was already close for new visitors. The cost for the consultation with Ketut Liyer is Rp 250.000,-(Domestic and International tourist is same price)

Ketut Liyer's House
We also come to Monkey Forest. The entry ticket is Rp 20.000. Actually we want to get entry at the first but when I sat down in front of the gate, one monkey was trying to stole my bag, and it was scary! I canceled to entry and decided to go back.

The naughty monkey
Tomorrow is our plan for diving (me) and snorkeling (Siti and Hajar) so we need to meet Tude’s friend who will guide us tomorrow.

“Tude”
Tude is his nick name. His real name is puTu geDe. He is a silver entrepreneur. I asked for his help to find us a guide for diving and snorkeling. His friend is Ketut Eka, who will guide us to Tulamben.

“Ketut Eka”
Bli Eka is a dive master for PADI license. He also a trainer for surfing and has many business in Bali. Outside he looked scary, but he has a kind heart. He is really a kind person at all.

Third day – October 25th 2010
This is my great day, because I will get dive again since my last at February. Tulamben is a nice place to dive. There is a USA ship sank there. We can only walk from the beach to get dive and boat is not required. It was so excited when I could dive again and saw many cute fishes. They are really cute. We start dive at 12.00. I got dive for twice and we finished at 16.00. For this trip, I’ve got special price..it’s only Rp 600.000,- Thank full for Tude and Bli Eka who had gave me a great day in Tulamben. My dive log book is now six, yeah just six, but I am happy.

At the night we asked Charli to help us to find a Hotel in Kuta. At the 00.00 we finally got it at Adus beach inn. For one night is Rp 230.00 for 3 persons with a fan, bathtub and an extra bed. The room also has balcony.

Fourth day – October 26th 2010
This is our first day to get adventure alone without our Bali’s friends. We rent 2 motorcycles for 4 days. Each cost is Rp 30.000/day. This was our shopping day at Sukawati market. This market has a cheap price. But we have to make a good deal before buy, because the seller will give you a high price first. If you has a good skill to get a good deal price then it can be very cheap. Sukawati market price is lower than Ubud market. The location of Sukawati is before Gianyar. So if you want to follow the mark information, you should follow the mark of Sukawati or Giayar.

At the night, we spent our time in Happy Puppy for sing songs with Charlie. It’s been a long time we can meet each others since we graduated from our collage.

Fifth day – October 27th 2010
Today we have planned to go to Joger. One of the famous brand from Bali. We arrived at the store in St.Kuta Raya at 11.00 o’clock and the store wasn’t open yet. What a crazy! Out side the store so many domestic tourist were waiting. How come the store wasn’t open yet at 11.00 o’clock? As I knew, the latest time of the store to open is 10 o’clock. Finally at 12.00 o’clock the store is open. Don’t be happy too fast, because we must get a long queue first for through the metal detector before enter the store entrance. I didn’t buy anything there. Hajar was the person who really want to go here and she was bought much here.

Joger
The adventure was continued to Tanah Lot temple, the famous temple. The temple is at the beach and if the sea water raise, then we can not go through the temple. Only who want to pray that can be enter inside the temple. For the visitor like us, we can only be out side near the temple. There is a water spring called holy spring out side the temple. It is strange because the temple is at the beach, but the water that came out is not salt at all. There are 3 holy snakes that live in the cave at the beach. The man who is guard the snake said that these 3 holy snakes are the guardians for the Tanah Lot temple.

Sixth day – October 28th 2010
We didn’t notice before that this day would be our hardest day in the whole week. Our plan was going to Batur lake and Besakih temple. Batur lake is in Kintamani and we had a long long long time to get there. We needed 3 hours riding motorcycle to get Batur Lake. When we arrived at the harbour, the location to get across to Trunyan village, we stuck with a woman who sell merchandises. We’ve already said “NO” many times but she didn’t care and keep follow us whenever we go. I was very uncomfortable and we were just around 30 minute there.

Are we lost? (just acting)
Trunyan is a village that doesn’t burry the corpse. They just put the corpse under the tree that can absorb the stink from the corpse. If you want to get across, the rent boat is around Rp.350.000 – Rp. 400.000

From there we went to Besakih, the biggest temple in Bali. On our way we got rainy day and we have to stop at the small shop and meet a happy family. A woman and her husband accepted us very welcome. They have 5 dogs, one of them is very cute named Giant. The woman take care Giant just like her child. Hajar said to her, “Giant just like your child” and the woman said, “I have no children, so I just have them (dogs) just like my children”. Seem so sad, but they looked happy. Suddenly my heart smile and pray for their good.

We arrived at Besakih at 16.00, we are in a hurry because we didn’t want get dark on the way go home. At 17.00 we were going back to Denpasar. As usually, we always got lost each other. We meet at Erlangga store and bought some merchandises. We all totally have 6 hours for riding the motorcycle today and it was hurt our body perfectly. At Erlangga we also arrange meeting with Charlie and we had dinner together. I said that I am done with the motorcycle. I asked to Charlie to company us tomorrow by car. I thought that I have a bad memory after today. Charlie said that he can try to company us at the noon around 15.00 o’clock and go to the Dream land beach. So I said to Siti and Hajar at the morning we will have a beach walk at Kuta, no more motorcycle, and for sure they all agree because we all have the same hurt. Hahaha.

At the night I wanted to walk at Legian but no one of Siti and Hajar want to. I was lucky because my friend, Tude, want to company me. After walked at Legian, we came to Kamasutra, a night club near Kuta beach. That was so quite and I wasn’t interested much, so we were just 30 minute there and back home. Thank you for Tude for his kindness.

Seventh day – October 29th 2010
At the morning we have good news. Charlie can company us earlier then he told before. So we can also go to the Nusa dua and Dream land by car. Sayonara motorcycle, you have done good job as well. We got the sun set at the Kuta beach from the Mall. It was such a beautiful sunset.

Another friend of us at the collage was arranged meeting with us at the air port. He’s name is Angga Yoni. Short time, but it was so valuable. Thank you for coming and meet us there.
Thank full to Charlie, who spent his all night and played with us.
“Angga Yoni”
