First day, Friday 7th August 2009
Vertical Horizon
Me and my friend, Siti was very enthusiastic to watch Vertical Horizon. She came from Bandung to Jakarta just for watching Vertical Horizon, cool yeah. We got 4 free tickets but all of my friends in Jakarta wasn’t interested came to JRL in Friday. Yeah, off course because all of us was very tired after office. That’s why only I and Sity could go to JRL that night. Siti arrived at 22.00 o’clock and we went to Carnaval Beach, place of Java Rockin’Land (JRL) was held, with Blue bird taxi. That taxi with the driver was mad us deeply. They were very slowly like a turtle. We must hurry to get there on time, because VH will start on 23.00 o’clock but they could not go up above 60km/hour. Grrrrrr….
Finally we arrived on 22.40, and here they are..Vertical Horison. Thank God, they were still singing when we came. And the good news, they have not sing yet “Best I ever had”. That was very nice entertain from VH, nice song with sweet voice and good performance. When they finished their last song, we asked them loud
“WE WANT MORE, WE WANT MORE”,
and they came again with 3 songs more. Nice and very kind. No regret to come for them.
Joujouka Madskippers
After that we looked around the JRL other stages, and we stopped at the small stage with 3 members of band who were played cool house music. Yes, that was Joujouka Madskippers from Japan. There were just around 10 people who watched their show. Not because they were bad, but it was Friday. Just a few people can came to JRL in Friday, and that was going mid night. They were filled the last show in segarra stage.
Taxi
We couldn’t find Blue bird taxi to take us home in Ancol area. In Jakarta, there were a few taxis which have best performance and good service. Most taxi in Jakarta have a bad service, you could be robbed or raped if you took a wrong taxi. Blue bird is one of the good one. We were stand enough long beside the street, beside Ancol station, so many bad people there, made us quite afraid. We decided to go away as soon as possible from there, we took one taxi and we stop it in Gunung Sahari street, beside Dunkin Donuts store. From there we finally got the blue bird, and it was picked us up to Pancoran safely.
Second day, Saturday 8th August 2009
Ancol
13.00 o’clock I went to Gambir to meet my friend Palti and his friends. Same with Sity, they were came from Bandung just for watching MR BIG. There are Susy, Amoy and Ugi also who would go to JRL. We start from Gambir at 14.00 o’clock and we arrived at Ancol at 16.00 o’clock. You don’t want to know why it could be so long to get there. So many people, we can not get a taxi to pick us up to Carnaval beach. A long traffic jam make taxi driver didn’t want to picked us. We decided to taken 3 ojek (motorcycle rent with driver) and take us to Carnaval Beach. We should pay Rp 50.000 but there was missed understanding that made Palti lose Rp 20.000.
Crowded
There were so much people there. Ricky, my office mate, joined us to explore the JRL. We took some picture with Sony Alpha 300, Palti’s camera. After watched Rif, we had dinner. Not a nice dinner, but that was enough help us to stand up for the next few hour. Now it’s time for secondhand serenade.
Secondhand Serenade
Time showed 20.55, 5 minute remaining for Secondhand Serenade show. Ough..we were late to take a position for watching. We couldn’t get a good position for watch. We just can stand up far away from stage, and see a small guy with an acoustic guitar singing a nice song. Sometimes I turned my neck to the screen and watched the bigger guy singing on the screen. I was tired, and I couldn’t enjoy the show. 30 minutes left, Palti asked us to leave and take a sit far away from the stage and watched the show to the screen. We take a rest and full filled our power for the next show, MR BIG.
MR BIG
Time showed 21.20 when secondhand serenade finished his last song, “Good bye”. When the people break from the stage (Gudang Garam Intermusic) field, we prepare and ready to go forward the stage and take position for the next show, MR. BIG. Some people go to the other stage (Gudang Garam dome) which will present Pure Saturday, but still there so many people who decide for waiting in the Gudang garam Intermusic stage area for MR BIG. We are some of them. We have to wait around 1,5 hour for the next show. MR BIG show schedule was on 23.00 o’clock. That was a very un-comfort situation. There were so many people stand with a small place. Can not get a fresh air, dehydration, and tired. Some of them sat, some people could not sat and have to stand until the show start. I tried to sat, but I feel worse, hotter, dizzier, so I prefer to stand again. When 23.00 o’clock, we sang ‘Indonesia Raya’ with the host and all band members who was showed in this stage (Rif, secondhand serenade) and finally…..Eric Martin, Pat Torpey, Billy Sheehan, and Paul Gilbert is coming. Hiaaa…. Every body jumped and screamed.
They were so amazing, in their old, they still have a good performance, nice vocal and performance from all of them. I really no regret have to wait 1,5 hour for them. They were gave us a cool show. We have to ask them “WE WANT MORE” many times for the legend song, “TO BE WITH YOU”.
Suffering
00.45, when the show finished. After take a rest, we decide to go home. Palti, Susy, Ugi, Moi, Ricky and me, have to walk (yes, by foot)from Carnaval beach to out side Ancol. Traffic jam made car stop in a long way. We got out to the big street in 2.00 o’clock. Our suffering still continued, we have to wait the taxi beside the street. So many people do the same thing like us. We couldn’t not find a good taxis, almost taxi didn’t want to use the fare-meter. Most of taxi in Jakarta in several condition, didn’t want to use the fare-meter, and give his own tariff for the customer. The tariff would be more expensive than usuall. We have to wait until 03.30 when a Gamya taxi came and pick us up. Six people got in the taxi. First we go to Gambir station, Palti, Ugi and Moi want to go back Bandung at 5.00 o’clock, and then Ricky in Kalibata, Susy in Mampang, and last, me in Setia Budi. All of us reached place safely.
Very thank to the driver who has a kindly for us. He used the fare-meter, and take us all. I couldn’t remember the driver’s name, but I can remember the car number is 452R. Thank you so much.
Those were great concerts, and a great adventure.
